The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly soccer awards for the week of September 18-24.
Rochester Community and Technical College goalkeeper Tayea Popillion earned the MCAC Women's Soccer Goalkeeper-of-the-Week award, saving 15 shots and giving up only two goals in 180 minutes of play. Yellowjackets defender, Jackie Reyna, played a critical role in her team's shutout win over Lake Superior College and a 3-2 win over Faith Baptist Bible College to earn the Defensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award. Madison Harden, midfielder for RCTC, scored four goals in her 8 shots on goal last week to earn the week's Offensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award.
Minnesota West Community and Technical College goalkeeper, Eli Robinson, earned the MCAC Men's Soccer Goalkeeper-of-the-Week honor after saving six of the seven shots taken on goal in his 180 minutes of play. Alexandria Technical and Community College defender, Roberto Gomez Diaz, was named the Defensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week after leading the Legends to a shutout victory over Riverland and scoring a goal in the win. Anton Cordes, forward for Minnesota West Community and Technical College, earned the Offensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week honor after scoring five goals in his seven shots on goal and setting the BlueJays program record for goals in a game.
