The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly volleyball awards for the week of September 24 - October 1.
Madeline Kallberg, setter for Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range, earned the MCAC North Division Offensive Athlete-of-the-Week award after distributing 121 assists in 11 sets during the week, averaging 11.0 assists/set. Kallberg also served three aces and had four kills, 23 digs, and seven blocks. Kallberg's teammate and Norse middle blocker, Addy Gangl, earned the MCAC North Division Defensive Athlete-of-the-Week honor with her all-around defensive effort throughout the week. Gangl had 48 digs (4.36 digs/set), six service aces, and 11 blocks in her 11 sets, and she averaged 6.09 kills per set while hitting .342 during the week.
Century College's setter, Gabrielle Schwirtz, earned the South Division Offensive Athlete-of-the-Week award. Assisting on 92 kills in 11 sets, Schwirtz averaged 8.36 assists per set. She added 10 service aces and hit .312 during the week while also picking up 30 digs and four blocks. Century College's libero, Cassidy Gilliam, earned the South Division Defensive Athlete of the Week award, digging 36 balls in 11 sets, a 3.27 dig per set average, and serving six aces in her team's two wins over MCAC opponents and a narrow 3-2 defeat to the defending national champions.
