The five Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) wrestling programs met in Rochester, Minnesota, on Sunday for the 2024 NJCAA Region 13/North Plains District Wrestling Championships held at Rochester Community & Technical College.
Host Rochester Community & Technical College won the overall team event, scoring 105.5 points. Minnesota North College - Itasca claimed the runner-up honors, trailing Rochester by only 2.5 points. Ridgewater College finished third with 82.0 points, followed by Minnesota West Community & Technical College with 28.5 points and Northland Community & Technical College with 25.0 points.
Thirty individual performers earned the opportunity to advance to the 2024 NJCAA Wrestling National Championships held March 1-2 at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Andy Hackenmueller, head coach for Rochester Community & Technical College, was named the Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) and NJCAA Region 13 Coach of the Year.
Ridgewater College sophomore standout Cole Holien was selected as the MCAC Wrestler of the Year. Holien has put together a stellar season, going 34-9, wrestling in the 141 lb. weight class.
