The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its baseball weekly awards for the week of March 11-17.
Triston Sauerbrei, right-handed pitcher for Minnesota West Community and Technical College, has been named this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Sauerbrei, in his one appearance and start, threw a complete game shutout to get the win against Rochester Community and Technical College in five innings. He gave up only four hits and struck out 10 without giving up a walk. Adrian Warcken, outfielder for Century College, went four for six from the plate, hitting .667 with a double and a home run. Warcken had two RBI and scored two runs while walking once and picking up a stolen base to earn this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Position Player of the Week honor.
St. Cloud Technical and Community College right-handed pitcher Cayden Hansen earned the week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week honor. In five innings of work through his one start, Hansen gave up no earned runs, struck out five, walked one, and allowed only four hits in a win over NJCAA D1 Indian Hills Community College. Jake Contreras, 1B/3B for Anoka-Ramsey Community College, earned the week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award. Contreras hit .440, going 11 for 25 from the plate with two doubles, two triples, and a home run. He also drove in 10 runs and scored 10 runs while walking on five plate appearances.
Marcus Haire, right-handed pitcher for Minnesota North College - Vermilion, has earned this week's MCAC North Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Haire went 1-0 in his one start, pitching five innings and striking out seven and walking only three batters. He gave up one earned run and three hits on his way to an 11-1 win over Minnesota North College - Hibbing. Isaac Mata, catcher/INF for Northland Community and Technical College, went 8 for 14 from the plate, hitting .571, with a double and two RBI. He also scored five runs, stole three bases, and walked three times to earn the week's MCAC North Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.
