The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its baseball weekly awards for the week of March 18-24.
Asahi Sato, a right-handed pitcher for Riverland Community College, has been named this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Sato threw six innings of shutout ball in his one start this week to pick up his first win of the season. He struck out six batters and gave up only four hits while walking three. Seth Tierney, 1B/DH for Century College, hit .625, going five for eight from the plate, with three doubles and a home run. Tierney also had nine RBI and scored a run, and earned this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Position Player of the Week honor.
There were no nominations for this week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week honor. Cayden Hansen, second baseman for St. Cloud Technical & Community College, earned the week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award. Hansen was two for five from the plate, hitting .400, with two home runs. He drove in five and scored five runs while walking four times and stealing two bases.
Gage Lund, a right-handed pitcher for Minnesota North College—Itasca, has earned this week's MCAC North Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week award. In his one appearance during the week, Lund threw four innings of one-hit ball and struck out two batters. He gave up only one run and walked three. No nominations were submitted for this week's MCAC North Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.
