The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its softball weekly awards for the week of March 25-31.
Kaitlyn Geschwill, a right-handed pitcher for Central Lakes College, continued her incredible freshman season, throwing a perfect game this week against St. Cloud Technical & Community College and picking up another win against Rochester Community & Technical College to earn the MCAC North Division Softball Pitcher of the Week honor. Geschwill gave up only one earned run and four hits while striking out 20 batters in her two victories this week. McKenna Miller, outfielder for Central Lakes College, earned this week's MCAC North Division Softball Position Player of the Week award. Miller went five for nine from the plate, hitting .555, with a double and a triple. She also drove in two runs, scored two runs, walked twice, and stole a base. Miller pitched her first win of the season as well during the week.
Callie Elg, a right-handed pitcher for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, picked up two wins this week, throwing 10 innings of six-hit ball to earn the MCAC South Division Pitcher of the Week award. Elg struck out 12 batters and walked four without giving up an earned run. She also hit .333 with a home run and four RBI during the week. MaKenzie Allen, shortstop and catcher for Minnesota West Community and Technical College, earned this week's MCAC South Division Softball Position Player of the Week award. Allen went 6 for 10 from the plate, hitting .600, with four doubles, a home run, and three RBI. She had a slugging percentage of 1.300, and defensively, she put out five opposing players.
