MCAC Baseball Athletes of the Week: Week of May 6-12

Rochester, MN - 

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its baseball weekly awards for the week of May 6-12.

Rochester Community and Technical College's right-handed pitcher, Rees Campanale, has been named this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Campanale threw a complete game to pick up a win for the Yellowjackets in the NJCAA Region 13 Tournament, scattering five hits over eight innings. He struck out seven batters and walked only one while also hitting .628 with a home run and seven RBI. Griffin Olson, shortstop for Rochester Community and Technical College, went 5 for 10 from the plate, hitting .500 for the week. Olson hit four home runs, drove in nine runs, and scored six runs while walking twice. He also played errorless defense, making several acrobatic plays to prevent opponents from scoring. For his efforts, he earned this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Position Player of the Week honor.

Griffin Dosan, a right-handed pitcher for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, threw three innings in relief, giving up only two hits to earn this week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week award. Dosan kept Rochester scoreless in his appearance and struck out two batters to help the Cyclones get a win to advance to the North Plains District Tournament. Elian Mezquita, second baseman for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, went 5 for 8 from the plate, hitting .625 on the week. Mezquita drove in two runs, scored two runs, and walked once to earn this week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award. 

Connor Hoyt, a left-handed pitcher for Northland Community and Technical College, earned this week's MCAC North Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week award. Hoyt started one game, picking up the win in nine innings of work. He gave up no runs and one hit while striking out 14 batters and walking only one in the opening game of the Region 13 Tournament.  Gamaliel Vasquez, third baseman for Northland Community and Technical College, hit .333, going 3 for 9 from the plate with two runs batted in and three walks. Vasquez also scored one run and earned this week's MCAC North Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.
