The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly soccer awards for the week of September 2-8.
Rochester Community and Technical College goalkeeper Chloe Mart earned the MCAC Women's Soccer Goalkeeper-of-the-Week award for the second straight week. Mart had six saves and gave up only one goal in 90 minutes of action in a win against Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Defender Grace Gilmore played all 90 minutes of Rochester Community and Technical College's lone game this week, anchoring a defense that gave up only one goal while helping the Yellowjackets score five. Gilmore was named the Defensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week honoree. Rochester Community and Technical College midfielder Madison Harden earned the week's Offensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award, scoring one goal on two shots and assisting on another goal to help the Yellowjackets move to 3-0 on the season.
Eric Merchan, Anoka-Ramsey Community College's goalkeeper, earned the MCAC Men's Soccer Goalkeeper-of-the-Week honor after saving 18 shots and only giving up three goals in 90 minutes of action in a win over Alexandria Technical and Community College. Riverland Community College defender Reyes Turcios earned the Defensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award by leading an aggressive defensive effort against DII Iowa Central Community College in a 2-1 win. Ntsako Baloyi, midfielder for Riverland Community College, earned the Offensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award, scoring one goal on two shots. His goal turned out to be the game-winning goal against Iowa Central.
