MCAC Volleyball Athletes of the Week: Week of September 2-8

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its volleyball athlete of the week awards for the week of September 2-8. 

Josie King, outside hitter for Century College, earned the South Division Offensive Athlete of the Week award. Hitting .298 on the week and averaging 2.08 kills per set, Josie led her team to key wins over #4 College of DuPage and #15 Dallas College North Lake.  She had 25 kills on 57 swings and also blocked four balls.  Jayda Bednarek, libero for Rochester Community and Technical College, earned the South Division Defensive Athlete of the Week honor. Bednarek had 92 digs in 17 sets, averaging 5.41 digs per set. She also aced three serves, all against NJCAA DII opponents. 

Central Lakes College middle blocker Chesney Phillipp had 43 kills and averaged 3.07 kills per set to earn the MCAC North Division Offensive Athlete of the Week honor. Phillipp hit .202 and added 18 total blocks to her stat line to help her Raiders to a 4-0 record during the week. Lilliana Rowe, libero for Alexandria Technical and Community College, was named the MCAC North Division Defensive Athlete of the Week. Playing in only three sets, Rowe picked up 23 digs for a 7.67 digs per set average, and she had an ace to lead her Legends to their fourth conference win of the season.
