The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its football athlete of the week awards for the week of September 9-15.
Rochester Community and Technical College quarterback Dylan Curry earned an Offensive Player of the Week honor after passing for 377 yards and four touchdowns in the Yellowjackets 45-13 win over Central Lakes College. Curry was 20 for 30, a 67% completion rate, with one interception. He now leads the MCAC in passing yards with 704. Hunter Grathwohl, running back for Minnesota West Community and Technical College, rushed for 102 yards on 18 carries to earn the other Offensive Player of the Week award. Grathwohl also caught one pass for 48 yards, and his 5.67 yards per rushing attempt propelled the Bluejays to their third win of the season.
Mason Pagel, a defensive lineman for North Dakota State College of Science, had seven total tackles, four solo and three assisted, with 2.5 tackles for losses totaling 13 yards, to earn a Defensive Player-of-the-Week award. Pagel also had a forced fumble and two sacks for a loss of 11 yards. Trei Ginn, linebacker for Rochester Community and Technical College, earned the other Defensive Player-of-the-Week award after picking up ten tackles, eight solo and two assisted. Ginn tallied five sacks and four tackles for a loss of yardage in a strong defensive effort.
Atiba Fitz, special teams player for Rochester Community and Technical College, earned the Special Teams Player-of-the-Week award. Fitz had five solo and two assisted tackles on special teams, along with 45 return yards.
