The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its football athlete of the week awards for the week of September 16-22.
Rochester Community and Technical College running back Christian Parrish earned an Offensive Player of the Week award with his 12 carries for 101 yards and a touchdown. Parrish also had one catch for 12 yards to help the Yellowjackets to their third conference win of the season. Elijah Alexander, quarterback for Minnesota West Community and Technical College, threw for 237 yards and three touchdowns, completing 12 of 14 passes. Alexander also ran the ball nine times for 42 yards to keep the Bluejays undefeated on the season and to earn the other Offensive Player of the Week award.
Jaden Leonard, cornerback for Minnesota State Community and Technical College, had four tackles and three interceptions to earn a Defensive Player-of-the-Week award. Leonard scored a defensive touchdown for the Spartans in their first win of the season. Javieane Stevens, linebacker for Rochester Community and Technical College, earned the other Defensive Player-of-the-Week award. Stevens had ten tackles, with four of them for a loss of yardage and four sacks. He also pressured the Mesabi Range quarterback four times.
Central Lakes College's kick returner, Chisum Schmiedeberg, earned the Special Teams Player-of-the-Week award. Schmiedeberg had two kick returns for a total of 42 yards, and he added a special team tackle and a blocked extra point.
