The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its volleyball athlete of the week awards for the week of September 23-29.
Jalyn Wolle, setter for Century College, had 74 assists and three aces in the Wood Ducks two wins this week to earn the South Division Offensive Athlete of the Week award. Averaging 9.25 assists per set in wins over Ridgewater College and #5 Minnesota West, Wolle has now doubled her assist total from all of last season. She ranks fifth in the MCAC in assists on the season with 398. Katie Hess, libero for Minnesota State Community and Technical College, had 55 digs and three service aces in nine sets to earn the South Division Defensive Athlete of the Week award. Hess averaged 6.11 digs per set during the week, and she is ranked 9th in the MCAC in digs per set this season with 4.17.
Emma Simon, setter for Central Lakes College, assisted on 90 kills in seven sets and added four service aces to earn the MCAC North Division Offensive Athlete of the Week honor. Simon averaged 12.85 assists per set and ranks second in the MCAC with 514 assists this season. Simon also had 20 digs during the week, averaging 2.85 digs per set. Hannah Edwards, middle blocker for Minnesota North College-Mesabi Range, had 13 blocks during the week, with nine of them coming in a win over #13 Alexandria College. Her 1.08 blocks per set helped Edwards earn the MCAC North Division Defensive Athlete of the Week honor. Edwards also had twelve kills and two assists, leading her team to two more wins.
