The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its football athlete of the week awards for the week of October 14-20.
Rochester Community and Technical College quarterback Joseph Russell earned an Offensive Player of the Week award with his strong performance in the MCAC Football Playoff Quarterfinals. Russell completed 35 of 51 passes for 401 yards and three touchdowns to help the Yellowjackets advance to the semifinals with their 31-28 win over Minnesota West. There were no nominations for the other Offensive Player of the Week award.
There were no nominations for either Defensive Player-of-the-Week awards.
Matthew Caviezel, punter for Rochester Community and Technical College, earned the Special Teams Player-of-the-Week award. Caviezel punted three times for a total of 90 yards, averaging 30 yards per punt. He had a long punt of 40 yards and downed two of the punts inside the 20-yard line.
