The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its football athlete of the week awards for the week of October 21-27.
Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range quarterback Johnathan Mosley led his Norse team into the MCAC Championship Game by combining for seven touchdowns in a 45-37 win over Rochester Community and Technical College and earned an Offensive Player of the Week award. Mosley completed 12 of 20 passes for 210 yards and four touchdowns and rushed seven times for 76 yards and three touchdowns. He ranks 3rd in the MCAC in passing yards this season with 1,177. Trevon Rodriguez, wide receiver for North Dakota State College of Science, caught two balls for 74 yards, averaging 37 yards per reception. He also scored a touchdown each time he caught the ball, ending the day with two TDs. Rodriguez is averaging 17.4 yards per catch this season and earned the other Offensive Player of the Week award.
Malique Jackson, free safety for North Dakota State College of Science, had three interceptions and totaled 52 return yards while having one tackle and four pass break-ups to earn a Defensive Player-of-the-Week award. Jackson scored a touchdown on one of his interceptions as well and now leads the MCAC in interceptions with six. Samuel Miller, linebacker for North Dakota State College of Science, earned the other Defensive Player-of-the-Week award after totaling 14 tackles (4 solo and 10 assisted). Miller also had one sack for a seven-yard loss and an interception that he returned 21 yards. He now ranks third in the MCAC with 64 tackles on the season.
There were no nominations for the Special Teams Player-of-the-Week award.
