Rochester, MN-
The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly soccer awards for the week of October 21-27.
There were no nominations for the MCAC Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week awards.
Riverland Community College goalkeeper Camden Williams earned the MCAC Men's Soccer Goalkeeper-of-the-Week award. Williams saved 13 shots on goal and gave up only one goal in 183 minutes of action. Williams shut out Alexandria College in the Region 13 Championship Game to help his Blue Devils claim their second title in a row. The lone goal Williams gave up came in a double-overtime win against Anoka-Ramsey Community College in the semifinals. Riverland Community College midfielder Ntsako Baloyi earned a Defensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award after scoring three goals on four shots on goal. He also organized the middle defense to prevent Alexandria College from scoring in the championship game. Alexandria Technical and Community College defender Jannes Vroegindeweij earned a Defensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award as well. Vroegindeweij led the Legends' defense when the team was short on players and without the starting goalkeeper and gave up only one goal to Minnesota West Community and Technical College, helping the Legends advance to their first-ever Region 13 finals. Nick Asmus, forward for Riverland Community College, earned the Offensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award. Asmus scored a goal and assisted on four others. Asmus scored the winning goal on a penalty kick in the Blue Devils' double-overtime win over Anoka-Ramsey. His four assists in the championship game helped his team advance to their second district tournament in program history.
