Rochester, MN -

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) volleyball coaches have selected their 18-member North and South All-Division teams, coaches-of-the-year, and players-of-the-year for 2024. The top nine vote-getters from each division were also named to the All-MCAC Team, and the top six were named to the All-Region 13 Team.

The MCAC North Player of the Year is Chesney Phillipp, a middle blocker for Central Lakes College. Phillipp had 332 kills this season, averaging 3.46 kills per set, and compiled a .256 hitting percentage in her 27 matches. She also averaged 1.06 blocks per set, ranking her first in the MCAC North. Phillipp's 102 total blocks (53 solo and 49 assists) also ranks first in the MCAC North. Phillipp helped the Raiders outright claim the MCAC North Division title and earn the #1 seed in the NJCAA North Plains District 13B Tournament.

Shelby Nosan, head coach at Minnesota North College - Rainy River, was named the MCAC North Division Coach of the Year. Nosan led her Voyageurs team to a 16-12 overall record and a 9-5 record in the MCAC North. The Voyageurs qualified as the #3 seed in the NJCAA North Plains District 13B Tournament. Nosan's squad put up a valiant fight against Century College in that tournament, eventually dropping the match 1-3.

The MCAC South Player of the Year is Alexis Helmin, a middle blocker for Century College. In 105 sets over 29 matches, Helmin hit .383 and averaged 3.00 kills per set. She totaled 315 kills this season, which ranks her fifth in the MCAC South. Helmin ranks third in the MCAC South in service aces with 57. She blocked 97 balls, with 32 solo and 65 block assists, and averaged 0.92 blocks per set. Helmin contributed on 436.5 of the Wood Ducks' points this season to rank first in the MCAC South. Century finished second in the MCAC South and qualified as the South's #2 seed in the NJCAA North Plains District 13B Tournament. The Wood Ducks were also selected as an at-large team to compete in the NJCAA DIII Volleyball National Tournament.

Britney McNab, head coach at Minnesota West Community and Technical College, and Jay Kam, head coach at Century College, were both selected as the MCAC South Division Coaches of the Year. Coach McNab led her Lady Jays to a 32-4 overall record this season and an 11-1 record in the MCAC South. McNab's squad was undefeated at home and is currently on a 14-match winning streak. They won the NJCAA North Plains District 13A Tournament and will be the #2 seed at the NJCAA DIII Volleyball National Tournament. Coach Kam led the Wood Ducks to another stellar season, going 26-4 overall and 10-2 in conference play. As the NJCAA DIII National Tournament runner-ups in 2023, the Wood Ducks will return to the NJCAA DIII Volleyball National Tournament with an at-large bid. Kam's team qualified for the NJCAA North Plains District 13B Tournament, making it to the championship game.

New this year in MCAC Volleyball is a Team Sportsmanship Award for each division. In the MCAC North, Minnesota North College-Vermilion was chosen as the team demonstrating the best sportsmanship throughout the season. In the MCAC South, the Team Sportsmanship Award went to Ridgewater College for exhibiting the best sportsmanship of the MCAC South volleyball programs.
