The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its winter sports athletes of the week awards for the week of November 11 - 17.
Central Lakes College center, Chesney Phillipp, earned the MCAC North Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week. Phillipp played 27 minutes in the Raiders one game this week and put together a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. She went 5 for 9 from the field, and also had two assists, two steals, and three blocks against Anoka-Ramsey Community College.
Eriq Caraballo, a Minnesota North College - Hibbing forward, earned the MCAC North Division Men's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Caraballo scored 22 points, shooting 60% from the field and 44.4% from the three-point line in the Cardinals' one game during the week. He grabbed seven rebounds, four assists, a steal, and two blocks in the team's 96-52 victory over Oak Hills Christian College.
St. Cloud Technical and Community College guard Brooklyn Fischer has been named the week's MCAC South Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week. Shooting 37% from the field and 70% from the free throw line in 74 minutes of action, Fischer scored 38 points against an NJCAA DI (Bismarck State) and a DII program (United Tribes). Fischer also pulled down 12 rebounds and had two assists and three steals.
Sam Jennings, a Rochester Community and Technical College guard, earned the MCAC South Division Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week award. Jennings went 16 for 26 from the field and 7 for 15 from the three-point line to score 42 points in the Yellowjackets' two wins this week. He grabbed ten rebounds and had two assists to go along with his 61.5 % shooting from the field and 46.6% from the three-point line.
There were no nominations for this week's MCAC Wrestling Athlete of the Week award.
