The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its winter sports athletes of the week awards for the week of November 25 - December 1.
Jade Reese, a Northland Community and Technical College guard, earned the MCAC North Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. In 21 minutes of action, Reese scored 17 points, shooting 57.1% (8-14) from the field. She also had eight rebounds, two assists, a steal, and two blocks in her team's 74-43 win over Minnesota State Community and Technical College.
Minnesota North College - Rainy River point guard Austin Howe earned the MCAC North Division Men's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Howe scored 33 points in 36 minutes on the court, going 14 for 23 (60.8%) from the field and 5 for 12 from the three-point arc. He grabbed ten rebounds and had seven assists and nine steals in the Voyageurs' win over Red Lake Nation College.
Anoka-Ramsey Community College center O'Ciana Johnson has been named the week's MCAC South Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week honoree. Johnson made 10 of 17 shots, shooting 58.8% from the field and scoring 20 points in 31 minutes of playing time. She had ten rebounds, an assist, and two blocks in the Golden Rams win over Minnesota North College-Mesabi Range.
Zack Rygg, guard for Minnesota West Community and Technical College, earned the MCAC South Division Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week award. Rygg scored 36 points in 28 minutes of action, going 13 for 18 (77.7%) from the field and 4 for 8 (50%) from the three-point arc. He also had six rebounds and three steals in the Blue Jays win over Bethany Lutheran College.
There were no nominations submitted this week for the MCAC Wrestler of the Week award.
