The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its winter sports athletes of the week awards for the week of December 9-15.
Northland Community and Technical College strong forward Tiyana Schwinghammer earned the MCAC North Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Schwinghammer made 21 of 46 shots from the field, scoring 52 points in the Pioneers' three wins during the week. She also collected 19 rebounds, 12 assists, eight steals, and six blocks in 100 minutes of action.
Jaiquavious Ackey, forward for Central Lakes College, earned the MCAC North Division Men's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Ackey scored 39 points in his two games, making 17 of 38 shots from the field for a shooting percentage of 60.7%. He grabbed 23 rebounds, and had six steals and three assists, helping the Raiders defeat (RV) M State and finishing the week 1-1.
St. Cloud Technical and Community College guard Brooklyn Fischer has been named the week's MCAC South Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week honoree. In 78 minutes of court time, Fischer scored 57 points, shooting 47.6% and averaging 28.5 points per game. She also had 14 rebounds, six assists, and eight steals as the Cyclones went 1-1 during the week.
Rochester Community and Technical College shooting guard Sam Jennings earned the MCAC South Division Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week award. Jennings played 62 minutes and scored 63 points on 22 of 37 (59.4%) shooting from the field. In addition, his nine rebounds, four steals, and eight assists helped the Yellowjackets win two more games during the week.
There were no nominations submitted this week for the MCAC Wrestler of the Week award.
