The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its winter sports athletes of the week awards for the week of January 27 - February 2.
Minnesota North College - Itasca guard Claire Clusiau earned the MCAC North Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Clusiau made 5 of her 9 shots from the field and shot 80% from the three-point line to score 16 points in the Vikings win over Mesabi Range. In 33 minutes of action, she rebounded nine balls, had three assists, and stole a ball.
Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range guard KeyVaughn Fields earned the MCAC North Division Men's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. Fields scored 28 points in the Norse one game this week, a win over Central Lakes College. He shot 61.5% from the field, 80% from the 3-point line, and had three rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 29 minutes on the court.
Rochester Community and Technical College forward Kara Goetzinger earned the MCAC South Division Women's Basketball Athlete-of-the-Week award. In 28 minutes of action against #4 Anoka-Ramsey, Goetzinger scored 22 points, shooting 57.1% from the field and 100% from the three-point line. She also had eight rebounds and a steal in the Yellowjackets' win.
Riverland Community College guard Nazih Chehade earned the MCAC South Division Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week award. Chehade shot 66.7% from the field, going 12 for 18 and scoring 26 points in 34 minutes of court time in a win over Rochester. He grabbed six rebounds, blocked one shot, and assisted on three baskets to keep his #1 Blue Devils undefeated on the season.
There were no nominations submitted this week for the MCAC Wrestler of the Week award.
