The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its baseball weekly awards for the week of March 3-9.
Hunter Guenther, a right-handed pitcher for Century College, has been named this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Guenther got the start in his one appearance during the week and gave up only one earned run on three hits in five innings, picking up a win. He struck out 11 batters and walked two, earning a 1.80 weekly ERA.
Connor Larsen, catcher for Century College, hit .417 during the week, going 5 for 12 with two doubles and a home run. Larsen drove in six runs, scored six runs, walked once, and stole a base to earn this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Position Player of the Week honor.
Alexandria Technical and Community College right-handed pitcher Devin Gutierrez threw a complete game six innings, giving up only two hits and no earned runs in his win. Gutierrez struck out 13 batters and walked one, compiling a 0.00 ERA for the week and earning the week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week honor.
Leftfielder for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, Max Reis, went 6 for 13, hitting .462, with a triple and an RBI. He scored six runs and walked twice, and he used his base-running skills to impressively steal eight bases during the week. This helped Reis earn the week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.
Leo Meraz, a right-handed pitcher for Minnesota North College - Rainy River, has earned this week's MCAC North Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Meraz pitched two innings of relief work in his first collegiate appearance, striking out two and giving up two hits and no walks. Earning the win, Meraz did not give up a run in the outing.
First baseman for Minnesota North College - Rainy River, Ian Becker, went 7 for 11 from the plate, hitting .636 for the week. Becker had three doubles and a triple, one RBI, seven runs scored, four walks, and a stolen base to earn the week's MCAC North Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.
