The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its baseball weekly awards for the week of March 10-16.
Jack Sorenson, a left-handed pitcher for Riverland Community College, has been named this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Sorenson started one game, throwing a complete game shutout against NJCAA DII Dakota College-Bottineau. He gave up five hits over seven innings and struck out 10 hitters while walking two.
Karlo Aguirre, first baseman for Riverland Community College, hit .469, going 15 for 32 this week, with four doubles and three home runs. He drove in 15 runs and scored eight while walking four times. Aguirre has been named this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award winner.
Tyson Barthel, a right-handed pitcher for Minnesota State Community and Technical College, started in one game and threw six innings, giving up no earned runs and only one hit. He struck out 12 hitters and walked four and gave up only one unearned run. Barthel also hit .272 with two RBI and a run, earning the week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week honor.
Jaden Drill, first baseman for Alexandria Technical and Community College, went 6 for 15, hitting .400, with three home runs and five RBI during the week. Drill walked five times and scored 11 runs, putting together a 1.571 OPS for the week. For his offensive performance, he earned the week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.
Minnesota North College - Itasca right-handed pitcher David Heinen was named this week's MCAC North Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week honoree. Heinen appeared in two games and started both. He scattered three earned runs over 12 innings, striking out seven and walking four. Heinen gave up four runs and ten hits and earned his first win of the season.
Northland Community and Technical College outfielder Justin Amesquita went 12 for 31 from the plate, hitting .387 for the week. Amesquita had five doubles and drove in 10 runs while scoring 10 runs. He also walked five times and stole three bases to earn the week's MCAC North Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.
