The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its softball weekly awards for the week of March 17-23.
Kaitlyn Geschwill, a right-handed pitcher for Central Lakes College, earned this week's MCAC North Division Softball Pitcher of the Week honor for the second straight week. Going 3-0 during the week in her three appearances, all starts, Geschwill gave up only two earned runs and 11 hits over 16 innings. She struck out 27 batters and walked six. Geschwill scored 12 runs, hitting .733 with two doubles, two home runs, and nine RBI.
Katie Metzer, catcher for Minnesota North College - Itasca, earned this week's MCAC North Division Softball Position Player of the Week award. Metzer hit .333, going two for six from the plate, with a double and a stolen base. She scored two runs as well. Metzer's defense was phenomenal as she totaled ten putouts and assisted on four others, three at second and one at third base, in her 14 total chances.
Hailey Stallings, a right-handed pitcher for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, earned her second straight MCAC South Division Pitcher of the Week award after pitching eight innings of one-hit softball in her two starts. Stallings pitched a complete game, and for the week, she struck out 11 and did not walk a batter. She also hit .750 in four at-bats with two doubles, two walks, three RBI, and three runs scored.
St. Cloud Technical and Community College left fielder Jordyn Clapp earned this week's MCAC South Division Softball Position Player of the Week award. Clapp had four hits in six at-bats, hitting .667 on the week. She hit three home runs and drove in 10 runs. She also scored seven runs and stole two bases. Clapp walked four times, and defensively, she tallied three putouts.
