The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its baseball weekly awards for the week of April 14-20.
Max Hudlow, a right-handed pitcher for Century College, has been named this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Hudlow threw six shutout innings in his one start and gave up only three hits. He struck out four and walked one in the 9-0 win over Rochester.
Caden Besemer, a catcher for Century College, went six for ten from the plate, hitting .600, with three doubles. Besemer drove in three runs and scored six, while walking twice and stealing two bases. Besemer's offensive performance helped the Wood Ducks pick up four more wins and earn him this week's MCAC South Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.
DaShaun Robinson, a right-handed pitcher for Alexandria Technical and Community College, threw the MCAC's first perfect game of the season and the first perfect game in Alexandria College's history. Robinson struck out 15 batters in his seven innings and did not give up a hit, walk, or run to earn the win and this week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week honor.
Connor Davis, utility player for Alexandria Technical and Community College, had a .524 batting average this week, picking up 11 hits in 21 at-bats. He had five doubles and a triple, with 11 RBI and nine runs scored. Davis also walked three times and stole three bases to earn this week's MCAC Central Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.
Minnesota North College - Hibbing right-handed pitcher, Landon Wood, was named this week's MCAC North Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week honoree. Wood threw seven innings, giving up only two earned runs on four hits. He struck out nine and walked one in the 11-2 win over Minnesota North College - Vermilion.
Northland Community and Technical College first baseman, Justin Amesquita, went 10 for 21 from the plate, hitting .476, and doubling three times during the week. Amesquita drove in nine runs and scored 12. He walked 10 times and stole three bases, helping his team to eight wins and earning the week's MCAC North Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.
