MCAC Baseball Weekly Honors

A handful of games in the Northern and Southern Divisions of baseball in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference have yielded several top performances.  Read on for the individual accolades for Northern & Southern Division competitions ending Sunday, March 31. 

MCAC Northern Division

Player & Pitcher-of-the-Week

Alfonso Pesqueira

Tucson, AZ

Rainy River Community College freshman Alfonso Pesqueira has been effective setting the table for the RRCC offense this past week and has been tabbed Northern Division MCAC Player-of-the-Week.  

At the plate, Pesqueira went 5-for-7 and scored four runs.  He also drew three walks, had a sacrifice fly and drove in two runs for RRCC. The Tucson, Arizona product had a weekly on-base percentage of .722 for the Voyageurs. 

Rainy River is next in action on Saturday, April 6 when they take on Western Technical College.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  

 

 

Lukas Adelman

Vermilion Community College pitcher Lukas Adelman has earned the MCAC Northern Division Pitcher-of-the-Week honor for the week ending Sunday, March 31. 

As a starter, Adelman tossed a one-hit shutout  against Mesabi Range College in a 10-0 win, held at Proctor (MN) High School.  Adelman rang up five strikeouts while only walking one batter in six innings of work.  He also was 7-of-14 at he plate, driving in six RBI's and connecting for a home run. 

Vermilion is next in action on April 6 when they travel to Central Lakes College.    

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

MCAC Southern Division 

Player & Pitcher-of-the-Week

                       

Yadiel Ortiz

Riverland Community College student-athlete Yadiel Ortiz has earned the MCAC Southern Division Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 31. 

The sophomore from Patillas, Puerto Rico went 7-for-16 with a home run for the Blue Devils.  He had 12 RBI's for the week and three extra base hits, including a home run for Riverland. 

RCC and Ortiz are next in action on April 7 when they play Central Lakes College

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Trevor Stuckey

Lake Minneloa, FL 

 

Minnesota West CTC pitcher Trevor Stuckey has been named the MCAC Southern Division Pitcher-of-the-Week for the week ending Sunday, March 31. 

Stuckey, a freshman from Lake Minneloa, faced 24 Rainy River batters in a 11-6 win over Rainy River Community College; the sophomore gave up only two hits and two earned runs while striking out five Voyaguers. 

With the win, the BlueJays move to 7-15 on the year.  MnWest will play the JV team of Buena Vista University on Wednesday, April 3.
