Rochester, MN- 

Baseball teams around the Minnesota College Athletic Conference are moving quickly towards the post-season in the 2019 spring season.  Several student-athletes stood above their peers in great performances which have been selected as Player or Pitcher-of-the-Week for the week ending Sunday, April 28. 

MCAC Southern Division 

Pitcher & Player-of-the-Week

 

Javier Ramos

Fajardo, Puerto Rico

 

Javier Ramos, a freshman at Riverland Community College from Fajardo, Puerto Rico has earned the MCAC Southern Division Player-of-the-Week for the week ending Sunday, May 5. 

Offensively, the Blue Devil outfielder hit for a .500 average, going 9-for-18 and drawing a pair of walks.  Ramos belted a home run and a double while racking up six RBI's on the week.  Riverland benefited from Ramos' timely hitting en route to an unbeaten 6-0 week. 

 Ethan Hurn

  Granada, MN

             

Ethan Hurn, a sophomore pitcher at Rochester Community & Technical College has earned MCAC Southern Division Pitcher-of-the-Week for the week ending Sunday, May 5. 

As the Yellowjacket starter, Hurn threw a complete-game, seven-inning shut out. The Granada, Minnesota product scattered three hits while racking up 12 strikeouts and conceding only one walk. He was also an offensive force, going 5-for-13 at plate with five RBI's, five runs scored and two stolen bases. 

 

 

MCAC Northern Division 

Player & Pitcher-of-the-Week

Brandon Holbert

Tucson, AZ  

 

Brandon Holbert, a sophomore at Rainy River Community College from Tucson, Arizona has been named the MCAC Northern Division Player-of-the-Week for the week ending Sunday, May 5.   

Holbert was 6-for-13 at the plate for Rainy River scoring two runs and reaching base at a .500 clip.  He knocked a pair of doubles while excelling definsively. The Voyaguer played both catcher and third base, turning in a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage for the week. 

 

 

 

Braydon Borg

Brainerd, MN


            

Braydon Borg, a right-handed pitcher from Brainerd, Minnesota playing for Hibbing Community College has earned the MCAC Northern Division Pitcher-of-the-Week for the week ending Sunday, May 5.

Borg tossed a complete game against Rainy River Community College, scattering six hits over seven innings and allowing only one run.  He racked up 11 strikeouts while walking only four; Borg struck out the Voyaguer side in two of his seven innings of work.

Jackson Kea

San Francisco, CA

Jackson Kea, a catcher at Ridgewater College has earned the MCAC Central Division Player-of-the-Week for the week ending Sunday, May 5.

The sophomore from San Francisco, California was an impressive 11-for-14 at the plate for the Warriors.  Kea drove in 11 RBI's for Ridgewater over the course of the week, including two home runs.
