After an exciting Saturday of football in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference on September 2, fans, families, coaches and others turn their attention to Week 2 match-ups, the last non-divisional contests before Divisional play commences the following Saturday.

Star Tribune Shoutout- In the Friday, September 8th print edition of the Star Tribune, Joel Rippel, a college football reporter who produces a weekly look around the state's pigskin stories, gave a nod to the diversity within the MCAC Coaching Ranks. West is Best?: Western Division teams held a 4-2 advantage after Week 1, with NDSCS, Northland, Dakota College and Ridgewater all tallying victories for the West, with only Central Lakes and Mesabi Range notching East wins. The Eastern Division has an opportunity to balance out the win column numbers with a strong showing this week; FDL, Central Lakes and Vermilion all host, while Rochester, Itasca and Mesabi Range all have road games.
MCAC Eyes Hurricane Irma: With over 125 student-athletes in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference hailing from Florida, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, scores of student-athletes will be monitoring the developing story of Hurricane Irma as it travels through those regions. Marquee Match-Up: North Dakota State College of Science, receiving votes in the current NJCAA poll, travels to 14th ranked Central Lakes College for an early-season showdown.
