Northland CTC wins MCAC State Championship, 34-10, over NDSCS

St. Cloud, MN-

Northland Community and Technical College overcame cold and blustery conditions to win their second consecutive MCAC Football State Championship on Sunday, defeating North Dakota State College of Science, 34-10.

Both teams had to work through a snowy Husky Stadium surface on Sunday, November 11, with the NDSCS Wildcats scoring first to take a 7-0 lead into the first quarter.  However, Northland was able to put together back-to-back scores to close out the first half, taking a 12-7 lead into the lockerroom.

NDSCS opened the second half scoring with a 27-yard field goal to climb to within three points at 13-10, but that was the closest they would come as the Pioneer offense rang up 31 un-answered points.

For the Wildcats, they wrap up the 2018 season in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference with a 9-2 overall record and runner-up finish in the 2018 MCAC State Championship.   For the Northland Pioneers, they improved their record to 8-2 for the year and take home their second MCAC State Championship Trophy in as many seasons.

NJCAA Football bowl bids - including the Red Grange Bowl - will be announced by the bowl committees this week.
