MCAC Football: Week Two Match-Ups

Week two in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference will feature some key match-ups that will factor into Divisional races and post-season opportunity.

Fans and followers of MCAC Football will get their first look at North Dakota State College of Science this week; the nationally-ranked Wildcats were idle in Week One and host Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College on Saturday in Wahpeton.  NDSCS and head coach Eric Issendorf took some time out of their preseason preparations to help students move into campus as the academic year in North Dakota kicks off.

FDLTCC claimed a win in Week One, dealing M State-Fergus Falls a 36-3 setback; the Spartans will look give new coach Cory Miller his first win when they host Itasca Community College on Saturday in Fergus Falls.

Rochester Community & Technical College makes the trek out to Bottineau, North Dakota, to take on Dakota College-Bottineau; both teams are 0-1 and searching for their first win of 2019.  In Week One, the 'Jacks held Central Lakes College to only two scores but will look to get their offense on track against the Yellowjackets.  RCTC scored 31 on Mesabi Range in Week One, but conceded 61 in the loss; head coach Derrick Hintz and his team will kick off at Noon in Bottineau. 

Western Division coaches pre-season #1 pick Northland Community & Technical College earned a Week One win over Vermilon, 42-21, giving new head coach Jeremy Richardson his first Pioneer victory.  Northland will host Mesabi Range College at 1:30pm in what is one of the top contests of the Week Two slate.  The Mesabi Range roster will include  Taquarius (T.Q.) Wair; the inspiring story of Wair's journey to college football was featured on ESPN Football last Saturday.  Click here for the ESPN SC Feature.

Vermilion Community College will travel to Central Lakes College for a 1:30pm kickoff in Brainerd; both teams will have the opportunity to earn a win in the Eastern Division in the clash.  Central Lakes outlasted DCB last Saturday in a 12-0 shutout on the road; Raider running back Ridge Reed ran for 146 yards in Week One.  Vermilion Community College quarterback Goy Majiok threw for three touchdowns last week - two of which were caught by Davion Sanders - in their loss to Northland. 

Minnesota West CTC has the bye this weekend.
