Two MCAC Football Games On Tap for Sunday

Two MCAC Football Games On Tap for Sunday

Winona, MN-

Two football contests involving programs in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference will take place on Sunday, September 22.

Northland Community & Technical College will face off in a Divisional matchup with M State-Fergus Falls in a game postponed and moved due to field conditions in Thief River Falls yesterday.

The Northwest corner of the state was hit with a deluge of rain Friday evening and Saturday morning, leaving Lowell T. Swenson Field in Thief River Falls unplayable.  Today's contest - kicking off at 1:30pm - will be held on turf at East Grand Forks High School in East Grand Forks, Minnesota.  Northland, currently 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the MCAC Western Division, will hope to hold off the Spartans, who are looking for their first win of the year.  The Pioneers fell to Dakota College-Bottineau last week 38-7; M State is coming off of a 36-12 loss at MnWest

Also on the docket for Sunday is Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College, who travels to Stevens Point, Wisconsin to play the JV team of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.  Sunday's 2pm contest does not count in MCAC standings or affect post-season play opportunities for the Thunder, but will offer FDLTCC a chance to regroup and move on after falling to Itasca last week by a 39-6 scoreline.

FDLTCC has produced two strong MCAC wins over M State-Fergus Falls and Vermilion and held their own against NDSCS before falling, 38-28.  Thunder QB Danny Jackson has completed 44-of-101 passes so far in 2019 for 565 total yards; wideout Mason Klinger has 20 catches and is averaging 71.5 yards a contest. DJ Buckhanan leads the FDLTCC defense with 35 tackles on the year.
