Trey Jones, a sophomore guard at Rainy River Community College, has earned Player-of-the-Week honors for his performance for the Voyageurs in the week ending December 23. 

Rainy River went 1-1 at the Central Lakes College Invitational tournament, falling to Riverland in OT and defeating M State-Fergus Falls.  Jones scored 38 total points for the weekend, along with grabbing 14 rebounds, collecting nine steals and dishing out ten assists.  In 70 minutes of action between the two games, Jones was 4-of-5 from three-point range and was 15-of-28 from the floor overall. 

Jones and RRCC will take on Fon du Lac Tribal & Community College on Wednesday, January 9 in their next action. 

Southern Division

Kwantez Simmons

Kwantez Simmons, a sophomore forward at Riverland Community College, has earned Player-of-the-Week honors for his role in a strong week for the Blue Devils. 

Riverland improved to 11-1 on the year with a pair of wins over Northern Division powers Rainy River Community College and Central Lakes College.  Simmons collected 21 rebounds across the two contests, picked up six steals and dished out four assists.  In 68 minutes of work between the two games, Simmons scored 36 points, including going 6-of-11 from behind the three-point line. 

Simmons and Riverland will face the JV team of Luther College on Thursday, January 3 before heading into their Southern Division schedule on Wednesday, January 9 when they travel to RCTC.  

Notable Performances around the MCAC: 

HIBBING COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Amaun Ryan scored 24 points for the Cardinals against Itasca, while also grabbing eight boards.  Ryan was 4-of-4 from the foul line and had a pair of assists. Jaylen Williams had eight rebounds coming off of the bench for Hibbing.

ITASCA COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Torez Kinchen  scored 27 points against Hibbing; he also hauled in ten rebounds and had three steals for the Vikings in the game. Devonte Morgan chipped in 16 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had three helpers for ICC. 

CENTRAL LAKES COLLEGE: Al-Jureau Ray  scored 39 points across two Raider contests, along with 16 rebounds for the weekend.  Josh Arnold  had 21 points and three steals against M State-Fergus Falls, while Chris Buckley notched five steals and 16 points against Riverland.  Malik Kelly  averaged 12 points a game and had 14 total rebounds for CLC.

RIVERLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Deandre Anderson  scored 24 points across two games for RCC this past weekend, while Deandre Raggs  hauled in 17 total rebounds and had 30 points between both contests.  Uwana Etukakpan  had seven rebounds and six points in just 13 minutes of work for Riverland. 

RAINY RIVER COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Greg Barber scored 24 points against M State-Fergus Falls, while Cedrick Harris had 27 points total over the two RRCC contests this past weekend.  Josh Jacobs had a 21-point effort for the Voyaguers against the Spartans. 

M STATE-FERGUS FALLS: Samuel Priem  had 36 points total across two Spartan contests, while also picking up four rebounds per game.  Aaron Solberg contributed 22 points and 10 rebounds in the pair of games; Alend Alemadi  came off the bench against Central Lakes to score 20 points.  Martin LaFond  had nine boards and eight points vs. the Raiders.  Austin Miller  scored 26 points on the weekend with 10 assists. 

All other MCAC programs were idle this past week.
