Men's basketball teams in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference moved into the heart of their MCAC Divisional schedules last week, and a pair of student-athletes have been tabbed as Athlete-of-the-Week for their efforts in the MCAC race.

Adidas, the United States Marine Corps and Nicklasson Athletic Company sponsor the MCAC Athlete-of-the-Week awards, and proudly honor the following student-athletes for their performances this past week on behalf of their teams.

Tyree'on Johnson

The Performance:   Raider forward Tyree'on Johnson had a strong week for Central Lakes College and has been tabbed the Northern Division Athlete-of-the-Week in men's basketball for his efforts. 

The Coon Rapids, Minnesota product had 42 points over two games, both MCAC Northern Division victories. Johnson was equally impressive on the boards, hauling in 21 rebounds across the two contests. He also dished out eight assists and had eight blocks for the week. 

The Raiders continue to compete in MCAC Northern Division play on Wednesday when they travel to Ely to take on Vermilion Community College.

The Performance:   St. Cloud Community & Technical College sophomore guard Torez Kinchen put together a pair of outstanding performances this past week and has been selected as the men's basketball Athlete-of-the-Week in the MCAC Southern Division. 

In a 98-74 win over Ridgwater College, Kinchen scored 27 points while also grabbing five steals for the Cyclones.  In a 93-65 victory over MnWest later in the week, the Baton Rouge, Louisiana product again led his team in scoring with 19 points; he also hauled in three rebounds.

Kinchen and his SCTCC are currently ranked #6 in the NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball poll and will face Western Technical College and Rochester Community & Technical College this week.
