MCAC Men's Basketball: Athletes-of-the-Week

Divisional races and post-season aspirations ticked up a notch this past week as men's basketball squads from around the Minnesota College Athletic Conference fight for post-season spots. In those match-ups, a handfull of student-athletes stood out from the rest and have picked up Athlete-of-the-Week honors for their efforts. 

Adidas, the United States Marine Corps and Nicklasson Athletic Company sponsor the MCAC Athlete-of-the-Week awards, and proudly honor the following student-athletes for their performances this past week on behalf of their teams.

Northern Division 

Athlete-of-the-Week

   

 

Josh Arnold

Soph. / Guard

Apple Valley, MN 

                                                         

The Performance:  Raider guard Josh Arnold had big role in a good week for Central Lakes College and has been tabbed the Northern Division Athlete-of-the-Week in men's basketball for his efforts. 

The Apple Valley, Minnesota product had 30 points over two games, both MCAC Northern Division victories. Arnold helped CLC eclipse the century mark in wins over  Itasca (105-61) and Hibbing (100-67) with eight boards, eight assists and four steals. 

The Raiders picked up votes in the NJCAA Division III Top 10 Poll this week and will face both Northland CTC and Lake Superior College in upcoming action.

Southern Division 

Athlete-of-the-Week

Eric Racine

Soph. / Guard

Brooklyn Park, MN

 

The Performance: Eric Racine put together a pair of outstanding performances for St. Cloud Community & Technical College and has been selected as the men's basketball Athlete-of-the-Week in the MCAC Southern Division. 

In a 104 - 74 win over M State-Fergus Falls, Racine scored 27 points while also grabbing four rebounds and dishing out three assists. He was 10-for-11 from the field and 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.  In a 94-80 victory over Anoka-Ramsey, the Brooklyn Park product tallied another 18 points and picked up four steals. 

Racine and the Cyclones are currently ranked #3 in the NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball poll and will face Riverland Community College and Minnesota West CTC this week.
