In the Minnesota College Athletic Conference, men's basketball teams in the Southern Division found themselves chasing St. Cloud Technical & Community College in the race for the regular season championship.
In the end, top honors went to the Cyclones, clocking in at 12-2 in MCAC play, while Rochester Community & Technical College and Riverland Community College tied in the runner-up spot, both with 11-3 records. Ridgewater College finished fourth in the Southern Division at 8-6, claiming with it the final playoff slot. Anoka-Ramsey finished fifth, followed by Minnesota West CTC, M State-Fergus Falls and Western Technical College.
In a highly competitive Divisional season, three MCAC Southern Division teams were featured in the 2019-20 NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball Top 15 poll in various weeks, with SCTCC, RCTC and Riverland each garnering notice from the national committee throughout the season.

Andy Cone, head coach for SCTCC, was tabbed the adidas/Nicklasson Athletic Coach-of-the-Year in the MCAC Southern Division by his peers.
