MCAC Soccer Players-of-the-Week

Men's and women's soccer teams from around the Minnesota College Athletic Conference opened up the 2018 season this past week with a host of non-conference contests. 

Several student-athletes turned in key performances over that time and the best of those have been tabbed MCAC "Offensive Player-of-the-Week" and "Defensive Player-of-the-Week" respectively.

Offensive Player-of-the-Week

Gabriel Monaighan

Gabriel Monaighan, a freshman forward for Anoka-Ramsey Community College wasted no time in getting his 2018 season off to a good start for the Golden Rams

Monaighan tallied both goals - including the extra-time game winner - for ARCC against Allen County Community College, an NJCAA Division I soccer program. He drew Anoka-Ramsey level in the 37th minute and found the back of the net in extra-time for the Golden Ram victory. 

Dylan White and  Ulises Juarez collected assists on Monaighan's tallies, while goalkeeper Tobi Akinroluyo provided three saves in 1:17 minutes of work. 

Monaighan and the ARCC squad have a busy time ahead in week two of the season, with contests against Lake Superior College, Iowa Lakes Community College and Iowa Central Community College.

Sarah Baack

So./Goalkeeper

Zumbrota, MN

Sarah Baack, a goalkeeper for the women's soccer program at Rochester Community & Technical College was called into action early and often in the Yellowjacket NJCAA season opener last week. 

Baack, a sophomore from Zumbrota-Mazeppa, registered seven saves in a 1-0 last-minute setback to NJCAA Division II Dakota County Technical College on August 23.  

The RCTC Yellowjackets will continue their 2018 campgain with contests at Iowa Central Community College and at Dakota County Technical College this week.
