Central Lakes, Rainy River athletes claims final weekly honors for '17
Rochester, Mn-
In the final week of the 2017 Minnesota College Athletic Conference softball regular season, several teams saved their best for last.  And, with much at stake in their final  games, two student-athletes pulled through to earn Player and Pitcher of the Week honors with performances that sealed spots in the post-season for their teams.
Central Lakes Raider sophomore Rachel Mathis was a force at the plate and the basepaths.  In going 12-for-21 for the weekend, Mathis scored 8 runs herself, tallied 11 RBI's and knocked one pitch out of the park for a home run.  She also drew 7 walks and doubled twice.  The offensive output allowed CLC a strong run over the last week of the season, in which they went 5-3 and earned a place in the Region XIIIB softball tournament, picking up the #3 seed.
Rainy River Voyageur pitcher Kamia Arbizo, a sophomore from Thatcher, Arizona, garnered the final Pitcher-of-the-Week award in the MCAC North.  Arbizo tossed a no-hitter against league foe Itasca Community College, and defeated Central Lakes College as well between May 2-7.  In the two wins, Arbio had an 0.00 ERA over 10 innings of work, facing 37 hitters total, walking two and scattering 3 Central Lakes hits.  When not in the pitching circle, Arbizo also was an offensive force, with a dinger, 3 doubles and 11 RBI's.
