MCAC Softball Players-of-the-Week

The 2018 Softball season is underway in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference, and several student-athletes have stood out in some early-season contests.  The MCAC Players and Pitchers of the Week are as follows:

Teizha Kaluna

Northland Community & Technical College

Northern Division

Player-of-the-Week

Teizha Kaluna, a freshman from Kailua Kona, Hawaii, has had a strong start offensively for Northland as they being their 2018 season.

In 21 plate appearances for the Pioneers, Kaluna has ripped 11 hits and drawn three walks.  She currently is batting .733 for the season and has a stolen base to her credit as well.

NCTC will play next on Saturday, March 24 when they face Vermilion, Dakota College-Bottineau and North Dakota State College of Science.

                   

Casey Meyers

Rainy River Community College

Northern Division

     Pitcher-of-the-Week     

Rainy River hurler Casey Meyers recently put together a great outing for her squad, and has picked up Northern Divison, Pitcher-of-the-Week for her efforts. 

Meyers threw a 6 inning complete game against Riverland, scattering 7 hits and walking only two.  She notched six strikeouts in the contest, while conceding only two earned runs. 

RRCC next plays Dakota County Technical College on Wednesday, March 21 in Rosemount.                                    

 

                                  

      Abi Folkert          

          Rochester Community & Technical College 

Southern Division

Yellowjacket  Abi Folkert has found consistent contact on the ball in the early stages of the 2018 MCAC Softball season for Rochester Community & Technical College.

In ten plate appearances, the Kasson-Mantorville product has five hits and has scored 2 runs in the first three games of the campaign.  She also drew a walk and collected five total bases for Rochester so far this spring. 

RCTC is in action next on March 30, when they will face Anoka-Ramsey Commmunity College and Itasca Commmunity College.

                                                        

Bailey Zenk

Southern Division

Pitcher-of-the-Week

ARCC Golden Ram pitcher Bailey Zenk picked up her first win of 2018 with a shutout over fellow MCAC foe Riverland Community College earlier this month.

The Blaine, Minnesota product went the distance, striking out six batters while only walking one.  She was tagged for only one hit in the game and worked a total of five innings.

Anoka-Ramsey will take part in the Minnesota Classic in Rosemount, beginning Friday, March 23.
