Softball Players-of-the-Week named in MCAC

Rochester, Mn-

Several softball teams from the Minnesota College Athletic Conference were able to square off against each other and some non-conference competition last week in domes across the state.  There were multiple standouts among the MCAC squads and the best of those have been tabbed as Players-of-the-Week.

 

NORTHERN DIVISION

Player-of-the-Week

        Talyn McClaflin       

Freshman

Big Lake, MN 

Talyn McClaflin, a freshman from Big Lake, Minnesota, has earned the MCAC Northern Division Player-of-the-Week

McClaflin hit safely in 15-of-19 at bats and drew a pair of walks.  She cracked a home run and two doubles, tallying 9 RBI's total for the week.  

Next on the Itasca scheduled is the MCAC Crossover tournament to be held at RCTC March 30 and 31. 

         

  Pitcher-of-the-Week

     Andrea Wagoner   

Sophomore

          Colona, IL                   

Central Lakes College student-athlete Andrea Wagoner found more than one way to contribute to Raider success over the past week of action. 

As a pitcher, Wagoner  went 2-0 for CLC and was a force from the plate as well.  The Colona, Illinois sophomore beat NJCAA Division II DCTC 12-3, working 5.0 innings and allowing only four hits and two walks.  

Wagoner also earned the win against Itasca Community College, 8-6.  In seven innings of work, she struck out nine Vikings, while only allowing eight hits and one earned run.  

From the plate, Wagoner had 13 hits, scored 10 runs,  blasted five doubles and had a home run.  

Central Lakes is scheduled to play next in the MCAC Crossover at RCTC March 30 and 31. 

 

SOUTHERN DIVISION

 

    Player of the Week 

      Cleopatra Nystrom 

Freshman

Stillwater, MN

  

Anoka-Ramsey freshman Cleopatra Nystrom had a solid week for the Golden Rams and has earned Player-of-the-Week in the Southern Division. 

Nystrom had 13 hits in 22 at-bats, and picked up two walks.  She hit two doubles and collected 9 RBI's for the week.  

Anoka-Ramsey is in action this weekend at the RCTC Crossover Tournament, hosted on March 30 and 31.
