MCAC Softball Weekly Honors

Several Minnesota College Athletic Conference softball teams took to domes and fields around the state as action heats up this spring.  A handful of student-athletes turned in exceptional performances and have been tabbed as Player or Pitcher-of-the-Week for the week ending Sunday, March 31.

 Bailey Zenk

Blaine, MN


Bailey Zenk, a sophomore at Anoka-Ramsey Community College was dominant at the plate for the Golden Rams this past weekend.

The Blaine product drove in 14 runs for ARCC over the course of the weekend, going 7-for-11 with two home runs.  Both of her round-trippers came in a 18-0 win over Hibbing Community College. 

Anoka-Ramsey is back in action next on April 5 when they take on Dakota College-Bottineau in Rochester, Minnesota.












Sunny Strait

Minnetonka, MN

Sunny Strait, a freshman pitcher at Anoka-Ramsey Community College has been tabbed MCAC Pitcher-of-the-Week in the Southern Division for the week ending Sunday, March 31. 

The Minnetonka product went 2-0 as a starter for the Golden Rams, taking the circle in wins over Hibbing and M State-Fergus Falls. Straight notched her first collegiate win and produced a shut-out on the weekend. 

Strait scattered 12 hits over ten innings pitched in the two games, conceding only five runs - three earned - en route to a 2.1 ERA.  She struck out nine along the way for ARCC. Strait helped out offensively as well, going 5-for-9 at the plate with a home run, a double and four RBI's.

Anoka-Ramsey is back in action next on April 5 when they take on Dakota College-Bottineau in Rochester, Minnesota.









MCAC Northern Division

Pitcher & Player of the Week


Kali Mammenga

Little Falls, MN


Kali Mammenga, a freshman pitcher at Central Lakes College has earned the MCAC Northern Division Pitcher-of-the-Week honor for the week ending Sunday, March 31.

The Little Falls, Minnesota product started and went the distance in two Raider wins at the Minnesota Classic.  In 12 innings of work, Mammenga conceded just seven hits while striking out seven.  She game up only one earned run and three runs total, while walking two batters. At the plate, Mammenga was equally effective, hitting for a .350 average, including a pair of doubles and a home run. 

Central Lakes is back in action on April 6, when they face Anoka Ramsey Community College in Rochester, Minnesota.













Marissa Kerry

International Falls, MN






Rainy River Community College freshman Marissa Kerry (International Falls, MN) was an integral part of the Voyaguers strong showing recently and has been tabbed as the Northern Division Player-of-the-Week. 

Kerry went 9-for-16 at the plate for RRCC, scoring four runs herself and driving in nine total on the weekend.  Her .563 average included three doubles.  She also stole three bases and had a .588 on-base percentage for the week.

Kerry and Rainy River will next play in Rochester, Minnesota where they will take on Dakota College-Bottineau on Friday, April 5.
