MCAC Softball Weekly Honors

With improving playing conditions across the state, several softball squads in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference moved closer to securing post-season placements with strong showings last week.  The best individual performances have been awarded with MCAC Softball Weekly Honors for the week ending Sunday, April 21.

Pitcher & Player-of-the-Week

Bailey Zenk

Soph. / INF-Pitcher

Blaine, MN

Anoka-Ramsey Community College sophomore Bailey Zenk  stood out offensively for the Golden Rams in a key 6-0 week and has been tabbed as the MCAC Southern Division Player-of-the-Week for her efforts.

The Blaine, Minnesota product was 16-for-22 at the plate for ARCC last week, cracking four home runs and accumulating ten RBI's.  Zenk also drew three walks and had two doubles among her 16 hits.  Currently, Zenk leads the Conference in batting average (.575), home runs (10) and runs batted in (48). In the pitching circle, Zenk notched two wins in three appearances. 

With the 6-0 week, the Golden Rams move to 12-11 overall and are 6-2 in MCAC Southern Division action on the year.  They will face M State-Fergus Falls on Tuesday, April 23 in a 3pm/5pm double-header.

  Brielle Krossman

New London, MN

Ridgewater College pitcher Brielle Krossman (New London, MN) put in a strong effort over the past week for the Warriors and has been tabbed the MCAC Southern Division Pitcher-of-the-Week for her efforts.

The freshman hurler scattered 29 hits over 25 innings pitched and conceeded only six earned runs. Krossman was particularly sharp in a 8-1 victory over M State-Fergus Falls, a game in which she struck out nine, walked only two and claimed the complete-game victory. Krossman was solid at the plate as well, going 4-for-11 with an RBI, scoring a pair of runs and drawing four walks.

Ridgewater will face off with St. Cloud Technical & Community College on Tuesday, April 23 with an important 3:30pm/5:30pm double-header.

Kalee Wall

Seymoure, IN

Northland Community & Technical College pitcher Kalee Wall had an amazing level of control on her pitching arsenal this past week and has been tabbed as the MCAC Northern Division Pitcher-of-the-Week for her performance. 

Wall walked only one batter in four games while striking out 24 en route to a 3-1 week.  The freshman from Seymoure, Indiana dealt Division-leading Central Lakes a 6-2 setback among her wins and conceded only six earned runs total in 23 innings of work.  With victories over CLC, Vermilion and Hibbing, Wall moved her record to 7-7 on the year and has helped the Pioneers register a 5-1 mark in MCAC Northern Division play so far this spring. 

Northland is scheduled to face Rainy River Community College on Wednesday, April 24 in a 3pm/5pm double-header. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Haley Youngbauer

Verndale, MN

Central Lakes College freshman Haley Youngbauer (Verndale, MN) put together an impressive week for the Raiders and has been named the MCAC Northern Division Player-of-the-Week for her performance. 

Youngbauer hit for a .500 average going 15-for-30 in eight games while driving in seven RBI's.  She also drew a pair of walks for CLC.  On the basepaths, she was an impressive 10-for-11 in stolen base attempts. Patrolling center-field in all eight contests, Youngbauer turned in an error-free week defensively as well. 

Central Lakes is next in action on Friday, April 26 when they face SCTCC in a 3pm/5pm double-header.
