Several softball teams in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference needed some extra time to sort out which programs would comprise the final NJCAA Region XIII A & B tournaments. 

Northland Community & Technical College went into today's double-header needing a sweep of Central Lakes College to claim the top spot in the Northern Division. The Pioneers started well, beating the Raiders 11-3 in game one.  However, the nightcap was a different story, with Central Lakes rolling to a 7-0 shutout in game two, allowing them to capture the MCAC Northern Division regular season title.  With the hardware, Central Lakes will also host the NJCAA Region XIIIB tournament, where they will be joined by Northland CTC, Itasca Community College and Dakota College-Bottineau.  DCB joins the three MCAC programs as an independent representative, having won a three-game series with fellow DIII independent North Dakota State College of Science over the weekend. 

Rochester Community & Technical College and Ridgewater College needed an extra game to decide their series for the 2019; the Yellowjackets and Warriors finished tied 2-2 in head-to-head contests and had identical MCAC Southern Division records. In a high-scoring contest, Ridgewater topped Rochester 13-11 in a game played in Wilmar.  The Warriors will travel to Southern Division champion St. Cloud Technical & Community College later this week, joining the top-seed Cyclones, No. 2 Anoka-Ramsey Community College and No. 3 M State-Fergus Falls for the Region XIIIA post-season.
