Cyclones Book Ticket to Nationals, Raiders Conclude Season

Rochester, MN-

Both 2019 NJCAA Region XIII A and Region XIIIB softball tournaments concluded today - Friday, May 17 - as play in St. Cloud and Brainerd featured the top teams left in the four-team events.

St. Cloud Technical & Community College outlasted Division rival Anoka-Ramsey Community College in a two-game final, as SCTCC defeated ARCC 6-5 and 10-6. Both Ridgewater College and M State-Fergus Falls were eliminated earlier in the tournament. Today's double-header was played on the heels of a tremendous Golden Ram comeback the day before, as Anoka-Ramsey rallied from being down 10-3 to defeating St. Cloud 11-10 to earn the trip to the championship round. Saturday did not hold the comeback magic for Anoka-Ramsey today, and SCTCC will extend their season by advancing to the 2019 NJCAA Softball Division III National Tournament held in Rochester, Minnesota May 23-25.

Central Lakes College hosted the Region XIIIB competition and advance to the championship round today in Brainerd.  Needing two wins over NJCAA Division III independent Dakota-Bottineau, the Raiders delivered in the opening game with a 3-0 shutout.  CLC was unable to repeat the feat in the nightcap, falling to DCB 5-1.  Northland Community & Technical College and Itasca Community College were eliminated earlier in the tournament.

With the loss, Central Lakes finishes as the Region XIIIB runner-up, with the 'Jacks moving on to the 2019 NJCAA Softball Division III National Tournament in Rochester, Minnesota.
