The softball team at St. Cloud Technical & Community College has been seeded No. 7 in the upcoming 2019 NJCAA Division III Softball National Championship; the Cyclones will match up with Herkimer Community College on Thursday, May 23 at Noon CST to open the tournament. 

SCTCC - sitting at 32-14-1 overall - won the 2019 NJCAA Region XIIIA Softball tournament late last week, taking a pair of games from MCAC rival Anoka-Ramsey Community College on Friday, May 17 to qualify for the national championship.  The 2019 NJCAA Division III Softball National Championship will take place at the McQuillian Softball Complex in Rochester, Minnesota between May 23-25.  Dakota College-Bottineau (No. 6) and Brookdale (No. 3) are the other two teams which make up the Cyclone side of the first round bracket, while top seed Rock Valley College is joined by first-round opponent Suffolk County (No. 8), Lehigh Carbon (No. 4) and Onondaga (No.5).

MCAC Southern Division Coach-of-the-Year Greg Thorstad will look to guide his team through the challenging double-elimination tournament which features the top DIII softball programs in the country.  The Cyclones possess a potent pitching staff led by Sam Patton who racked up 23 wins to lead the Minnesota College Athletic Conference  in 2019.  The freshman from Sauk Rapids notched an amazing 170 strikeouts this season, good for a 6.84 K-per 7-inning average. SCTCC is fortunate to feature a two-prong attack in the circle, as Regan Jastram (So. / West Fargo, ND)  accounted for 9 wins this season and tossed 12 complete games.   McKenzie Ebert (Fr. / Eau Claire, WI) leads her squad in batting average at .435, just slightly ahead of teammate Kayla Trisko (Fr. / Zimmerman, MN) at .434; Jastram excels at the plate for SCTCC as well, hitting .431 and contributing a team-leading 56 RBI.
