Hibbing Community College and Rainy River Community College squared off this past week in an important Northern Division match-up and Cardinal guard Alexis Desjarlait stood out among several great players in the OT contest.

Desjarlait scored 33 points and grabbed 20 rebounds against the Voyageurs.  She also blocked three RRCC shots and had four steals in the contest.  The freshman from Red Lake followed up that performance with a 22-point, 9-rebound night against FDLTCC.  She added two more blocked shots and had three assists in the win over the Thunder. 

Desjarlait and Hibbing will face Itasca Community College on Wednesday, December 19 to close out 2018.  Tipoff is set for 5:30pm.

Mikayla Homola

Anoka-Ramsey Community College guard Mikayla Homola continues to light up the scoreboard for the Golden Rams. 

Homola (So./Blaine, MN) averaged 30 points a game over two contests, including 37 points against NJCAA Division II Bismarck State College and another 23 vs. the University of St. Thomas JV team.  Homola also contributed five assists and six rebounds for the 9-3 Anoka-Ramsey team.

Anoka-Ramsey is off until 2019 when they host Hibbing Community College and St. Catherine's on Friday, January 4 and Saturday, January 5. 

MESABI RANGE COLLEGE: Patty Overbye scored 16 points in the only contest of the week for the Norse, while also collecting seven steals.   Overbye was 6-of-7 from the foul line for Mesabi Range.

LAKE SUPERIOR COLLEGE:   Bailey Wheeler scored 15 points for the IceHawks in a loss to Central Lakes and distributed six assists in the game.  Wheeler scored 25 against Itasca, hauling in seven rebounds going 7-of-7 from the charity stripe.  Baylee Barningham had 15 points and a team-high nine rebounds against ICC.     

ITASCA COMMUNITY COLLEGE: The Vikings picked up a pair of Northern Division wins over FDLTCC and Lake Superior.   Emily Franz and Kenzi Reidel each had 22 vs. the Thunder, while Maya Schroeder hit a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards.   Against Lake Superior, Averi Holthusen led the scoring 24 points and  Kristine Johnson added 20.    

HIBBING COMMUNITY COLLEGE: The Cardinals went 1-1 including a 97-94 OT loss to RRCC and a win over FDLTCC.   Alexis Desjarlait put up 33 points and had 20 rebounds in the Rainy River contest, also adding three blocks and four steals. Hannah Morris scored 21 against the Voyeguers and Klaryssa Whelan added 12 points off the bench.  Bethany Baldwin scored 30 against Fond du Lac.  

FOND DU LAC TRIBAL & COMMUNITY COLLEGE: FDLTCC fell to Hibbing and Itasca Community College in Northern Division action.   Against the Vikings, Meredith Cherne led the Thunder with seven points and nine rebounds.  Kenzie Niedzielski added six boards and six points to the FDL effort; Aaliyah Peterson had six rebounds coming off the bench in the game. 

CENTRAL LAKES COLLEGE: The Raiders had one contest over the past week, downing Lake Superior 100-37.  Kelsie Weite turned in a double-double with 10 boards and 12 points, along with seven assists and four steals. Kali Mammenga and  Maggie Fellerman each had 13 points for CLC. 

ANOKA-RAMSEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE: In a 1-1 week, the Golden Rams were led by Southern Division POW  Mikayla Homola who scored 60 points combined in the two contests.  Abby Howe had 10 points against the JV team at University of St. Thomas while Adaya Sandifer added 16 points and eight assists to the ARCC effort against Bismarck State College. 

WESTERN TECHNICAL COLLEGE: Western Tech split a pair of games last week, beating Gogebic, 76-63 and falling to Bay (MI) College, 43-33.  Kerrigan Lyga scored 11 points against Bay and hit for 14 points and had nine rebounds vs. GCC.  Caitlin Young had 15 points off the bench against Gogebic for WTC.

VERMILION COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Vermilion dropped a pair of games this past weekend but were led by Bailey Bassette and Zarea Richards who both scored 14 points against Northland.  Bassette added eight rebounds, six assists and a pair of steals in the contest. Daysha Davis had seven rebounds. 

ROCHESTER COMMUNITY & TECHNICAL COLLEGE: The Yellowjackets dropped a pair of contests at the ARCC Classic but had Grace Riley score 32 points over the two games.  Riley also had 5 steals on the weekend.  Arianna Owens scored 10 points off the bench against Bismarck State and Olivia Matti scored 12 vs. UST.     

RAINY RIVER COMMUNITY COLLEGE: The Voyageurs picked up two Northern Division wins with a 97-94 OT win over Hibbing and 106-50 victory vs. Vermilion.  Davane Gross had 17 points and ten assists in the HCC game; Taquiana Gant had 11 boards and 14 points as well.   Andrisia Sweeting scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds against VCC. Daeja Monroe had 30 points on the weekend. 

NORTHLAND COMMUNITY & TECHNICAL COLLEGE: The Pioneers won two games on the road to open up Northern Division play. Carly Mekash had 38 points combined in the contests while grabbing 8 rebounds.  She was a perfect 9-of-9 on free throws for Northland. Mya Hough came off the bench to lead the team in rebounding against Mesabi Range with 11 boards.    Brooke Heggie had 34 points over the two games. 

MINNESOTA WEST COMMUNITY & TECHNICAL COLLEGE: The LadyJays beat Little Priest Tribal College in their only match-up this week. Emily Shaffer scored 25 points and had an impressive 16 rebounds; Lexie Ramsey added 23 points while teammate M'Kayla Mike had five boards and five assists. Avery Van Roekel was 10-of-12 from the foul line en route to a 20 point effort. 

St. Cloud Technical & Community College, M State-Fergus Falls and Ridgewater College were idle this past week.
