Taquiana Gant, a freshman from Orlando, Florida, has earned the Northern Division Player-of-the-Week for her work in the paint this past weekend for Rainy River Community College.

Gant had 23 rebounds in the Rainy River win over M State-Fergus Falls and another 18 against SCTCC for a two-game total of 41 boards.  Gant also scored 20 points on the Cyclones in the RRCC victory. 

Rainy River and Gant will face Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College on January 9 in their next scheduled action.

St. Cloud Technical & Community College freshman Kiara Coops put together a pair of strong efforts for the Cyclones recently and has earned the Southern Division Player-of-the-Week for her efforts.

Coops had 36 points combined in two games for SCTCC, as well as 24 rebounds.  Her performance included a 15-rebound outing against Rainy River Community College.  In addition to averaging a double-double for the weekend, Coops had two steals and two blocked shots for the Cyclones. 

Coops and SCTCC are off until January 4, when they will play Itasca Community College at the M State-Fergus Falls tournament. 

Notable Performances from around the MCAC: 

HIBBING COMMUNITY COLLEGE:  Alexis Desjarlait scored 23 points and Hannah Morris had 21 in a win over Itasca Community College; Desjarlait also grabbed 10 rebounds in the game. Stacie Lokken had a double-double with 12 boards and 11 points off the bench for the Cardinals.  Sherae' Cherenfant led all scorers in the Cardinal win, notching 27 points along with nine assists and a steal. 

ITASCA COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Averi Holthusen had 20 points, six rebounds and three assists against Hibbing Community College.  Kenzi Reidel and Kristine Johnson each scored 13 for the Vikings while Gianna Roberts chipped in 12 points on the night. 

St. CLOUD TECHNICAL & COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Shania Nahring scored 11 points and teammate Maria Stokes had eight rebounds and eight points in a loss to Rainy River.  Abbie Wuertz came off the bench to score 14 and grab five boards for the Cyclones.  Wuertz added another 16 points vs. Central Lakes College and Nahring had a double-double against the Raiders with 13 points and 11 rebounds. 

CENTRAL LAKES COLLEGE: Paige Wallevand hauled in 12 rebounds and scored 14 points for the Raiders against SCTCC; Kali Mammenga also hit double digits in both categories with 14 points and ten boards in the game.  Naomi Lane came off the bench to add 12 points and 12 Raider rebounds.  Wallevand poured in another 18 points for Central Lakes against M State-Fergus Falls while Kelsie Weite had four assists and ten rebounds in the contest. Liz Anderson had 12 points for CLC in the game as well. 

M STATE-FERGUS FALLS: Olivia Winfrey scored 20 points against CLC while Alexa Mortenson and Taylin Schleicher each had ten rebounds vs. the Raiders; Schleicher also had 13 points.  In a loss to Rainy River, Schleicher led the Spartans with 16 points and Sydney Hovland grabbed 10 rebounds and scored 13 points. 

RAINY RIVER COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Daeja Monroe scored 57 points in a pair of RRCC wins, while also averaging 9.5 boards per game.  She also had 5.5 assists per contest.  Teammates Perrisha Cox and Faitress Shaw had 25 and 26 points, respectively.  

All other MCAC programs were idle last week.
