MCAC Women's Basketball Players-of-the-Week

The post-season picture is starting to shape up in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference and two student-athletes stood out among their peers as they helped guide their teams closer to a spot in the playoffs this past week.  Read on for the Players-of-the-Week in the Southern and Northern Divisions of MCAC Women's Basketball, named on Tuesday, January 29 for the week ending Sunday, January 27, 2019. 

MCAC Southern Division 

Player-of-the-Week

              

Olivia Matti

Fr. / Guard

Hayfield, MN 

 

Olivia Matti, a freshman guard at Rochester Community & Technical College has earned the MCAC Southern Division Player-of-the-Week for her efforts in two Yellowjacket victories this past week. 

 Matti helped RCTC dispatch Ridgewater College 99-38 and M-State Fergus Falls 79-72 to pick up a pair of key Division wins.  Matti scored 59 total points in 59 minutes of action, going 23-of-38 from the field for the week.  The Hayfield, Minnesota product was 8-of-16 from behind the 3-point line and collected ten rebounds as well.  In addition to her scoring touch, Matti had seven assists and notched six steals over the two games. 

Rochester will face Minnesota West and SCTCC this week in MCAC Southern Division action.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

                                       

 

MCAC Northern Division 

Player-of-the-Week

 

 

Bethany Baldwin

Watersmeet, MI 

                                 

Bethany Baldwin, a freshman guard at Hibbing Community College has earned the MCAC Northern Division Player-of-the-Week honor for her role in two Cardinal wins this past week.

The Watersmeet, Michigan product scored 45 total points in two games on 16-of-26 shooting including a 9-of-15 effort from 3-point territory. 

Baldwin also grabbed 11 boards, dished out ten assists and picked up seven steals as Hibbing beat Mesabi Range 107-50 and Central Lakes 90-71 to move to 7-1 in the Division.

Hibbing Community College will face Lake Superior College and Rainy River Community College in MCAC Northern Division action this week.
