MCAC Women's Basketball Players-of-the-Week

Several impressive performances highlighted an important week of action as women's basketball teams from around the Minnesota College Athletic Conference.  Two student-athletes stood out among their peers for their all-around balanced play and have earned Divisional Player-of-the-Week for their efforts. 

MCAC Southern Division 

Player-of-the-Week 

Charo Nickens

Brooklyn Park, MN

 

     

Anoka-Ramsey Community College freshman forward Charo Nickens (Brooklyn Park, MN) has earned Southern Division POW honors for her role in a pair of Golden Ram wins in the week ending Sunday, February 10. 

ARCC defeated Minnesota West CTC 64-52 and dealt M State-Fergus Falls a 79-62 setback to claim a pair of key Division wins.  Nickens averaged 25.0 points a contest for the week and hauled in an impressive 28 rebounds.  She was 7-of-8 from the charity stripe and was 21-of-29 from the floor.  The Brooklyn Park product also had five steals and three assists for the Golden Rams. 

Anoka-Ramsey will face RCTC and Western Technical College in a pair of important Divisional games this week.                

 

MCAC Northern Division 

Player-of-the-Week 

 

Haley Hansen

Iron, MN

  

     

Haley Hansen, a center at Mesabi Range Collegehas earned the Northern Division Player-of-the-Week for the week ending Sunday, February 10. 

The Iron, Minnesota freshman logged 93 minutes of action across three games for the Norse where she grabbed 36 total rebounds, averaging 12.0 a contest.  She hit 15 free throws and blocked an impressive 14 shots for MRC on the week. 

Mesabi Range and Hansen will play face a pair of nationally-ranked opponents in Hibbing Community College and Northland Community & Technical College in upcoming action this week.
