Women's basketball in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference heads into an important round of games today - Saturday, February 16 - as teams compete for post-season position. 

In the MCAC Southern Division, Western Technical College (15-5 Overall / 9-0 MCAC South) takes on Anoka-Ramsey Community College (20-4 Overall / 8-1 MCAC South) in a contest that has major impact on the eventual Divisional champion and host school for the Region XIIIA tournament.  Head coach Chad Dull has guided his balanced Cavalier squad to an unbeaten Conference mark while ARCC, ranked No. 8 nationally, is led by one of the highest scoring student-athletes in NJCAA Division III basketball, Mikala HoumlaHoumla currently is No. 1 in the country in total points points scored, points-per-40 minutes and points-per-game.  Defensively,  Houmla is also leading the nation in steals, with 108 swipes so far this year.  Tip-off for the Cavalier-Golden Rams fixture is set for 1pm in Coon Rapids.

The MCAC Northern Division has a pair of teams vying for the Division title, as both nationally-ranked Hibbing and Northland will seek to keep pace with each other with contests against FDLTCC and Mesabi Range College, respectively.  Also in the Northern Division, Itasca Community College will take on Lake Supeior College at 1pm in Superior, Wisconsin. Long-time ICC head coach John Bauer has announced his retirement at the end of the 2018-19 season, marking 18 years at the helm in Grand Rapids.  The Vikings will be looking to try and stay a part of the post-season picture as they take on the Ice HawksItasca has games remaining with LSC, Rainy River and Hibbing, allowing them to control their fate as the post-season race heats up.
