Rochester, MN-

Hibbing Community College rebounded from a closely contested opening round loss to fellow MCAC program Western Technical College last evening to cruise past Anne Arundel Community College 100-60 today.  With the win, Hibbing moves on to the fifth place contest at the 2018-19 NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship.

The Cardinals were led in scoring by Hannah Morris with 21 points while two other teammates tallied double-doubles, one in unique fashion.   Sherae' Cherenfant tallied 11 assists along with 18 points and teammate Alexis Desjarlait hit the double-double mark in more conventional fashion with a 10 rebound, 15 point performance.  Cherenfant's 11 assists was more than double the total helpers by the entire AACC squad, who had five assists on the day.  The Cardinals had 27 points from non-starters in the contest while Anne Arundel's Sarah Healy hauled in an impressive 18 rebounds, 11 of which were on the offensive glass.

MCAC Northern Division Coach-of-the-Year Kate Brau's squad saw nine different players make the scoresheet in the win as Hibbing became one of just two teams to reach triple-digits so far in the tournament. The other 100 point side - Passiac County - will be the opponent for the Cardinals tomorrow, as the two teams tangle for fifth place at 2pm EST.  Passiac County dispatched UConn-Avery Point, 106-96 to advance earlier today.

Hibbing enjoyed one of the better fan sections of the eight tournament teams, as the Western Technical College squad turned out in force at the noon game to support their Conference compatriots.  The Cardinals will be in stands tonight at 5pm ET as Western Tech plays for the right to advance to the 2019 NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship title game.
