MCAC Women's Basketball: Athletes-of-the-Week

Women's basketball programs around the Minnesota College Athletic Conference had a chance to gauge the strength of the opposite MCAC Division this past weekend, as the majority of teams faced off in the MCAC Inter-Divisional series. There were several quality contests across the state, and some of the best individual performances of the past week are honored below with Athlete-of-the-Week awards.

Carly Mekash

Soph. / Forward

Greenbush, MN

                                                   

         

The Performance:                          Northland's multi-sport standout Carly Mekash put together a strong week for the Pioneers in three contests, including a pair of MCAC Inter-Divisional affairs.

In 91 minutes of work, the Greenbush, Minnesota sophomore was 23-of-40 from the field and 10-of-12 from the charity stripe. In addition to her 56 total points, Mekash hauled in 33 rebounds and had four steals.

The Pioneers defeated MnWest and Ridgewater in MCAC play and fell to NJCAA Division II Lake Region State earlier in the week.

Lexi Ramsey

Sophomore / Guard

Rock Rapids, IA

                                                                         

The Performance:         

Minnesota West sophomore Lexi Ramsey averaged 16.3 ppg this past week for the Lady Jays. She was a perfect 14-14 from the free throw line across three games and hauled in 7 rebounds as well. Running the floor for MnWest, Ramsey dished out 23 assists and swiped 14 steals.  

Ramsey scored a team-high 20 points and had 10 helpers along with 8 steals against Itasca in a 112-51 win.  MnWest fell to the JV team of Northwestern College and Northland CTC.
